Hours
Hours will be 9:00am to 1:00pm Monday through Friday. Please
do not bring your child earlier than 9:00am. Staff use their
morning time to prepare their room for the day's activities.
An early morning / late stay is offered through the church programming. More information is available upon request.
Sign-In
A sign-in sheet will be provided in the hall each day. Please
sign in your child's name, and where you can be reached during
school hours each day. Please include a phone number.
Pick-Up
Parents will pick their child up in their child's room. If
a child is to leave with anyone other than the parent, we
need their name listed on your pick-up form that will be available
in the office. We will check ID if we have not met the person.
Your teacher has pick-up forms in their rooms for you to fill
out, and these will be kept in the playschool office.
Insurance
The parent agrees not to hold the school, it's staff members,
the committee, a specific child, or the church responsible
for any mishaps or injuries. Where we take every precaution
to make sure MCCP is a safe and secure environment, accidents
can and will happen.
Health
MCCP participated in an in-service presented by the Guilford
County Department of Public Health Childcare/Preschool Nurses.
As a result we have adapted the following policies regarding
a child's health and the guidelines we will follow in sending
them home.
Certain symptoms in children may suggest the presence of a
communicable illness. Children who have the following should
be excluded from the playschool until:
1. A physician has certified the symptoms are not associated
with an infectious agent or they are no longer a threat to
the health of other children at the playschool.
2. The symptoms have subsided. Click here for a list of symptoms.
Snack and Lunch Time
A snack will be provided each morning for the children. Parents
are responsible for their child's lunch. Please mark your
child's lunch box clearly on the front and also any container
in the lunch box. We have a refrigerator for bottles and perishable
items. We also have a microwave to warm up bottles and baby
food. Playschool does not provide milk or juice for lunch
time. Please send spoons/forks if your child's lunch requires
it.
Note to crib parents: A training cup will need to be provided.
Clothing
Please label all clothing, diaper bags, and any special toy
or blanket. Dress your child for play. It is likely that your
child will get crayon, paint, or Play-Dough on his or her
clothes. Please send sweaters, jackets, etc. when appropriate
for the playground. Each child needs shoes appropriate for
the playground. Each child needs a complete change of clothes
available at the playschool, complete with underwear and socks,
in the event of an accident or spill. Older children may bring
their change of clothes in a labeled Ziplock bag to be stored
here. Children still requiring diaper bags may simply bring
a change of clothes in their bags each day.
| Newsletter
Each month you will receive a newsletter of general information
for all parents and a section of information from your child's
teacher giving you a calendar of special dates, units of study,
special activities, and field trips. There will also be a section
with Chapel News! Please read it carefully, save it, and post
dates on your ca lender at home.
Toys and Supplies
Toys are provided. Please discourage your child from bringing
toys from home. Sharing is difficult at these ages and toys
might get broken or lost. Your child will have a show and share
in which he or she can bring a special toy. (This does not include
a security blanket or stuffed animal, etc.). Please, NO guns
or swords.
Birthdays
Birthdays will be celebrated as they occur during the school
year. Birthdays that fall during summer will be celebrated during
the school year. Your teacher will be happy to assist you in
selecting a day. Please, NO birthday invitations are to be distributed
at school. The office will be glad to provide you with classmates'
addresses.
Discipline
Under no circumstances do we allow spanking, shaking, or verbal
abuse towards a child. We feel redirection or temporarily removing
a child from the group for a few minutes, but within view of
the teacher, is appropriate discipline. If a child's behavior
cannot be controlled by this method of discipline, a meeting
will be arranged by the director for the parent and teacher.
If, after a reasonable period of time, it is found that the
child is unable to adjust to the playschool, the playschool
reserves the right to request the withdrawal of the child from
the program. This decision is left to the discretion of the
director. In the event of a parent/playschool conflict, the
director shall follow a course of action designed to remedy
the situation.
Field Trips
We will be making many field trips this year. If money is required
for admission tickets, etc. this fee will be added to your monthly
bill. Three year olds can not ride the bus, so we must rely
on parents to volunteer to carpool. Trips will be canceled if
we cannot obtain drivers. Please check the volunteer list if
you can help.
Chapel Time
Our entire playschool comes together every week in the sanctuary
for a lesson and music. The day chapel is held will rotate throughout
the year so every child has an opportunity to attend, regardless
of their registered days. Parents are welcome to come anytime.
Chapel time is 11:00am and will be posted on a monthly calendar.
Arrival and Dismissal Times
Children are happier and feel more secure when they arrive on
time and can begin activities with their classmates. Arrival
time is 9:00am. Teachers are not prepared to receive your child
before 8:55am. Children arriving before 8:55am will be be placed
in Early Morning Care and you will be billed accordingly. If
you arrive after 9:30am, please stop by the office - it may
be necessary for us to escort your child to the classroom. Parents
are encouraged to use a positive approach in leaving their child.
It is more difficult for children to separate themselves from
moms and dads and make a happy transition from home to school
with lingering good-byes. Wish your child a "happy day"
as he or she leaves you to enter the room while you remain in
the hall. Please feel free to call the office later to check
on how your child is doing. |
